    .223 case trimming and sizing

    OK, Question ?

What is the best way to trim .223 brass?

    1. Lee makes a case trimmer, but it won't work on cases that has been sized.
    2. Both Lee and RCBS makes a lathe type trimmers. But that takes time as well.

I am looking for a case trimmer that trims cases as fast as I can load them.

    Any ideas?????

Lee case trimemer won't work on cases that have been sized? Never heard of this can you provide a link?

Giraud setup is one of the fastest along with the Dillion trimmer die from what I have read. Check out one of the sticky posts by AR15Barrels on the top of this forum he talks about how he processes brass.

How much money do you have to spend? If you have a lot, go with either the Giraud (http://www.giraudtool.com/prod02.htm) or the Dillon (http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/con...B_Case_Trimmer). If you're po' folk like the rest of us, the Possum Hollow Kwik Trim with the power adapter is your best bet (http://www.possumhollowproducts.com/...-trimmers.html).

i use the lee trimmer with a drill cause i got more time than money

for deburing i use the lee deburinhg tool and i use a mill bastard file for the outside deburing the outside deburing is the worst every tool goes dull and just rounds it over the burr after 100 cases

i found about 20 pieces of brass that the little gage wont go through the primer hole as they are too small
              headstamp is g 5.56 97

ps i trim after sizing cause the primer needs to be gone

ok, The Lee case trimmer is the the hand type. It comes with a cutter and a small 2-peice base. You place the case in the base and tighten it. You then insert the steel rod that the cutter is mounted and turn it to trim the case.

                s l o w . After a few hundred, your fingers get really tired.

On the lathe type trimmers, It's the clamping of the case that gets me.
And the the fact the cutter gets bull and rolls the case over.

I heard of a case trimmer that uses something like sand paper and trims the cases with leaving any bure at all. Maybe it's a gringing stone. Not sure.

I will check the Dillon case trimer, But I am working on a Candex 2300 series loader. I also am looking for parts for the camdex.

You are using a $10k machine and you are asking us mere mortals questions about trimming. We feel honored. The camdex page says the 2300 series is for .300 win mag and up.

                    Looks like you need this.

I don't have a Camdex. I want one, and I am working on getting one.
I was looking at that Camdex case trimmer. Very nice.

I use the RCBS Trim Pro with the 3-way cutter adapter. It deburs as it trims.
                          This is my sig line.

                              Trimmer.....Giraud

I had the RCBS electric trimmer with the 3-way cutter. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Then I bought the Giraud, and I knew I was in heaven It's just like a pencil sharpener. Only more expensive. I can't recommend it enough
                              I won't be wronged
                              I won't be insulted
And I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.....John Wayne
