    Best Powder for reloading .223

I am very new to the hobby of hand loading.
I have had an opportunity to purchase opened but new reloading components.
I was wondering which powder out of these choices is best to reload .223?
    A-E
    A Winchester 231 8 lbs
    B Hodgon Titegroup 8 lbs
    C Winchester WST 4 lbs
    D Accurate Solo 1000 8 lbs
    E None of these
Please let me know what you guys have had experience with.

--Thanks Guys I'm glad I had asked--

The person that is selling these only reloaded pistol rounds. As a first time reloader I thought "powder is powder" man was I incorrect.
Thanks for helping me out and most of all thanks for keeping me safe.
I will study the links provided.

None of the powders you have there are suitable for .223. I'd suggest you spend same time looking at the various websites of the companies that make the powder (or sell it under their name.) All the powders you have listed there are too fast - the burn rate is too fast. Those are shotgun and pistol powders. I'd say they are in the moderately fast category.

Buy a couple of manuals, and get all the free data books you can. Read, read, and read some more.

Lots of powders out there....... There's even some data listed in this section of the forum.

    all the best,
    Mike

There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

Those are all shotgun and/or pistol powders.
None of them are appropriate for loading 223.

Varget, Benchmark. Take a look at this chart:

            http://www.hodgdon.com/burn-rate.html - Varget is #81.

Take a look here - Titegroup max. load is 3.1 grains - not recommended.... - be careful - and as others have said - pick up a reloading book and study it. Wrong recipe and kaboomski!

Davester, your scaring me man. Do not even think of reloading until you understand the basics. Improperly loaded ammo is dangerous. Buy some reloading manuals AND do research online. Also, it does not hurt to have someone mentor you into handloading.

Before you go any farther, get the book ABCs of Reloading and read it cover to cover.

Then get at least three loading manuals and read them. Then go buy components.

To answer your question the following are suitable in the .223:

                      TAC
                      Varget
                      IMR4895
                      H4895
                      H322
                      H335
                      Benchmark
                      R10x
                      R15
                      W748

You will have good results with any of those.

Don't buy anything until you know what you're doing. If you can, find a mentor who reloads to walk you through it.

I like VV powders, N140 and N540 in .223; I'm loading for heavier bullets.

Very new to reloading here, but we just loaded some Varget a few weekends ago and it didn't meter very well (stick). I think the H335 may be easier to load as its a ball powder.

Get a reloading manual for sure and read it.

Myself for 223 I like in this order

                              Alliant Reloader 15
                              BLC(2)
                              AA2230
                              H335

Haven't used Varget or any of the other ones yet. I use the R15 and BLC(2)for my 77gr loads.

I use the AA2230 for my 62gr and 55gr loads.

I tried the H335 a while back just had a hard time finding it again since then.
