    What range for my testing?

I am new to reloading and had several questions. Most were answered in another thread.
    here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=238325

However, I am wondering what is the best range to test my work up load at.
I am zeroed at 200m and usually shoot at that range. Should I test my loads for accuracy at this range or go down to 100m?

    Thanks,
    Noah

PS any other info about what rifle, and loading components I am using is all layed out in the other thread

200 is perfectly fine for testing. Don't bother to test at 100 if you always shoot at 200.

People usually test loads at 100 yards. If you prefer 200 yards, nothing is wrong with it. Shorter distance will have less affect on the bullet, including wind and other factors. Usually, the loads perform well at 100 yards will do as well at longer ranges.

I load my 308 Win for M-1A and test at 100 yards. Then I shoot 600 yards for matches. I haven't had any problems yet.

Without changing you're 200 yd zero you can see where a point of impact of a known load prints on a 100 yd target using the same point of aim. In the case of 165 gr SMKs in .308 that's approximately 2.5" above the point of aim at 100 yds.

Once you work up a load that impacts in that area, you can move the target out to 200 yds in order to tune the charge.
