Component purchase at Cow Palace today

I finally broke down and bought some Varget. Everyone extols the virtue of Varget this and Varget that. Fine, I bought some, 8 pounds to be exact. Plus, a pound of Hodgdon HP-38, because they were out of W231. It's the same stuff? I'll check my load manuals. I still have 8 pounds of Win 760 and one more pound of Win 231 that I just started to use.

I also bought some Wolf Small Pistol primers, Wolf 223 rifle primers, and some more Winchester Large Pistol primers. I've heard good reviews on Wolf. I asked about CCI and was told it's a hard primer.

I told myself, "No more. You don't need any more stuff." I fought the urge to buy some LC 223, 62gr XM855/SS109 $99.95/250. I figured I'd just buy some heavier .223 and load it myself.

So the question is: How's the flavor when you mix Varget powder + Wolf primer + LC case + Winchester 55gr FMJ bullet? Is it tasty? I'll be shooting it out of a Ruger Ranch, 1:10 twist I think.
I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.

Varget was selling for $145 at the Miwall at the last show but it was sold out by morning. The only other vendor sold it for $240. Nothing left last time but CCI large pistol primer and wolf srp for about $35.

I didn't even bother going today. Is the price lower this time.

wow, at 240 per 8 pounds + gas, parking, and entrance fee I'd rather stay home. about the only thing I can't complain is the no hazmat shipping fee.

I just got back online and I checked my receipts. Here's the pricing.

Varget 8# = $169.95; I checked around the net. No one has it in stock.
                              Wolf SP = $29.95/1000 (box)
                              Wolf SP = $147.95/5000 (case) - I bought a case
                              Wolf 223 primer = $29.95/1000
                              Winchester LP = $34.95/1000
                              CCI LP = $29.95/1000
                              Hodgdon HP38 1# = $24.95
Tax was charged on the purchases
