Yes. The other way around may not necessarily be a good idea though. .308 allows for higher pressures than 7.62x51.

cool..then if I had a case of 7.62x51..I can use it up in my 308 sniper rather than sell it off...

can exceed surplus rifles (like WW2) that have been designed for 50,000 psi max.

I doubt that federal gold medal match is running a 62k case pressure.

i'm kinda surprised it's backwards for the 7.62x51/.308 compared to the 5.56/223. The military spec ok to go in commercial for 7.62 into .308 but not OK when on the 5.56/.223

Sucks because I'll be building a AR-10 with my Noveske N6 upper and I have black hills .308 ammo (and it's the match stuff too! )

Ill take the n6 upper if your not happy with the caliber. How much? If your worried about 308 vs 7.62 buy LC match brass and reload.

I have a 1966 Enfield 2A1 7.6X51. I have read many articles, etc on the pressure issue.My Lyman reloading manual has .308, & 7.62X51 lsted togather.My question is if I reload .308, and keep it under 50,000# pressure, am I o.k?
