If you get an aftermarket drop in barrel for the Glock, you can shoot any kind of bullet you want. I think the aftermarket barrels run just about $100.

Lone Wolf sells their aftermarket barrel (lead OK) for about $100. Quality is hit/miss. They are notorious for crappy chambers.

I'd spend the money and get quality from the start. KKM Precision or Storm Lake.

What would the prices have been before the ammo shortage? Has anyone documented the price shift? I am assuming based on news the price hike is real. Any hopes on prices falling?
I still get fine prices, but only because I am patient.

        ~$16 for a box of 50 45acp Federal Champions @ Walmart.

        ~$82 for a box of 250 45acp Remmington UMC @ Walmart.

~$30 for a box of 100 Winchester Whitebox @ Walmart

~$216 for a box of 500 Winchester Ranger Jacketed Hollow Point @ Mi-wall (gunshows)

You can buy 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 for $200 + shipping @ AIM Surplus.

Some guys here seem to wig out and go spend premium money on ammo. Not me. I buy cheap, but I'll stock up on the cheap.

It still hurts though. Back in 2006 - only 2 to 3 years ago, a box of 100rounds of 38special or 45acp was like $16 @ walmart.

Used to get Wolf 7.62x39s for $2.50 a box. It wasn't that long ago. The price spikes have been dramatic.

which specialty caliber might that be?

up until the last two year of W I was paying under 10 dollars a box for a 50 round factory new CCI Brass 45 auto, 10 dollars of 550 pack Federal 22LR, 6-7 dollars a box for box of Federal 9mm FMJ. Heck I was getting CCI Blazer alum 45 auto for under 10 shipped just about two years back.

the market prices have more than doubled over about a year, is that a standard "steady rate" of increase?

                do the math
                That's no math to do...Apples & Oranges.

But everything is up. I bought a 525 bulk pack of Remington cheap stuff for $27 last month. No bargain, gives you a nice large group! Good for training & making noise.

I'm afraid to see what a middle grade .22lr costs a brick. Will have to buy one, one of these days.

                Fine time to learn reloading.

                Nice analysis, Freakshow.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
