Requesting a recipe -.45acp

I have barnes 230 grain bullets, accurate No.2 powder and federal magnum large pistol primers.. I have heard that you are supposed to go 10% down on powder. Any insight? please PM me

I never loaded .45 acp with magnum primers. Remember changing one component changes everything. When in doubt start low and work up.

Standard, proper answer is any change in components will dictate the need to start at the start charge and work up no matter how "forgiving" someone says a cartridge or powder is.

I also agree with Mikeb and freakshow.

By way of encouragement, I've used Win 230 grain bullets with a similar profile, AA#2 at the starting charge, and standard LP primers, and they shot well.

Don't need to be fast to be accurate, Hornady book says for 45ACP, the best velocity in between 700-800 fps. I use 5.0gr Acc#2 with 230gr lead RN bullet, measured 769fps.
