    There may be hope!

stopped by my local walmart (santa maria) and talked to the lady at the ammo section. She said they will be continuing to stock ammo until the AB962 comes into effect in 2011. And she said at least their particular walmart may even continue to sell it after depending on the work and resources required. So a small positive there! Curious to know if this is all CA walmarts or just my local one...

In my local WM, ammunition is (most of the time) the #1 selling product in the sporting goods department. They were going to phase it out a few years ago but when they looked at the books they discovered how good of a seller it was so now they carry more than ever before. The scuttlebutt is that several head honchos at WM corporate have made statements to the effect that by 2012 no ammo will be sold in CA stores because of AB962. I don't believe that even if it was the best selling item that CA stores would continue due to not wanting to have to deal with the paperwork and restrictions.

yea, knowing WM, they probably already done the cost analysis of new training/record keeping to sell ammo in CA vs. profit earned from ammo sold.

then the wildcard of being sued/audited if 1 employee sold ammo to prohibited person or didn't collect the info.
