    Hollywood reloading press

I just picked up a hollywood universal turret press like th one shown in the pic .Has a patent date of 1935 and is very heavy and well constructed . uses standard 7/8x14 dies and and has 12 openings for dies and 4 for shell holders . Parts are still availible from a place called hollywood engineering .

    nice score.

I dunno, I've never been much for guns. I mean, sure, we have the usual gun by the door, another near the TV, one in the kitchen, and another in the bedroom...and several others laying around. For the most part though, we keep our home free of guns. We are peace loving folks.

Hollywood presses are awesome. Some 50 shooters are lucky enough to have Hollywood presses set up for 50BMG dies. The wait time on one is normally a year or more!

Oh wait, they really suck. I'll take it off your hands and even give you $50 for it just so, you don't have to look at that old POS.

I found this beast on a auction site , I paid $150 shipped to the door . Dont confuse this with the current production hollywood press they are not the same. While the current manufacture of the hollywood press I belive owns the rights this model has not been made from what i know since the 50s , the company holly wood engineering makes replacement parts for them all . its going back into service for another bazillion rounds soon

I have that same press stamped 1935. Mine has a slightly different handle. The end of the steel shaft has a larger wood handle over it. They work great. I used to use the priming cups on the press to prime, but then upgraded to an RCBS strip priming system. Now I use my dillon 550 and hardly use the hollywood, but I still keep the hollywood because they are well made and a cool piece of history.

My press is bolted to a piece of 2' x 3' x 1/2" steel plate, which is bolted to the bench. when the press was bolted only to a partical board top, I ripped it right out one day while sizing 243 or 30-06 brass. After the steel plate, I could use as much force as needed.

Looks like a capstan on a ww1 era battleship.

Hollywood Engineering does not seem to have the best name in the biz as far as getting your parts to you and customer service.

Best to do a google search to see what I mean.

I also found one of those presses at one time but sold it to another person as he already had one. I decided not to go forward with mine due to the all the internet noise about them.

But good luck, yours looks fairly complete.

I suppose you do know there's a difference between the original makers of the Hollywood Press, and Hollywood Engineering?
