    MEC universal charge bar question

Have a friend in Malta (Small Island at the tip of the boot of Italy. He is using a Mec Sizemaster for loading 12ga. Per his load data he is supposed to use 34 grams of the size 10 bbs. his universal charge bar is fluctuating between 31 to 37 grams. He is loading to hunt very small game and wants to know if this is a serious issue or is that kind of fluctuation reasonable?

If he's not loading hot loads, it should be fine. This is the reason that I don't use my universal charging bar.

you had the same issue with yours? or have just heard about it? Apparently in Malta the distributor tells them to throw away the stock charge bar and only use the universal. they run around $90 american dollars there!

I've only tried it a couple of times and gave up due to what I'd heard and experienced. I just keep it because, I'm a packrat and someday, I may not have the right bushing but, I need to make some weird loads up quick. So, when are you sending him a package? We can both make a couple of bucks.

LOL, told him we ought to go into the universal charge bar biz, they only go for around half that in the states. Thanks for the info...

BTW, IIRC, last time I looked, the universal bars were aftermarket and not made or endorsed by MEC.

They aren't, he called mec to ask about it and they said no comment call the company that made them...

Yeah, I think that's one of the reasons my Dad got rid of ours.

Luckily, we never blew ourselves up. I'm not so sure everyone was that lucky...

Is that powder or shot charge?

My charge bar is right on the money. What powder is he using?

its the shot that he is having issues with its ranging between 31-37 grams of size 10 bb that would be 1.09 oz to 1.30 oz variation

#10 shot? That's pretty small. He shouldn't have that much variation with the shot charge. Could be his method. I found the charge bar likes to be handled like a dirty whore.

When he drops powder, the shot part fills. Give it a good couple rasps with a dowel to shake things up and get them to feed.
