WalMart - Price Increase for WWB

As was reported on AR15.com and other places, the price of Winchester 'white box' ammo has gone up at WalMart. I was just at the Mountain View store and the 100 round bulk packs of 9mm are now selling for ~ $14.50.

I would guess that the prices for the .40 S&W and .45 ACP bulk packs have also increased.

Its not the first price increase in the last few months, maybe the first this year.

Right before the new year the price on the shelf said 22.00 for white box 100 of 40m S&W but rang up at 17.00 so there system must not have been updated with new price yet only way to see true price is have them scan the price off the box.

I picked up a 100rd of WWB 40S&W yesterday at the Brea WalMart and it came out to 21.53 with tax. It is 19.98 without tax. The lady at the counter said the prices have just gone up.

That pretty much says it! The price of materials, particularly metals, has gone up world wide, and will continue to rise. The increase oil costs are also reflected in the costs of finished products, and we all know where those have been going. I think there will also be some fear backlash and possible hoarding due to both the price increases and the current political makeup of the US Congress.

I just bought some 9 mm today at the Lakewood Wal-mart for 14.68 a box. I was a little bit shocked at the price since it was over a 10% bump in the price. I commented to the sales clerk that the price was only $12-$13 last time I bought ammo. He was sympathetic and after he got the ammo on the counter he said the price when up on Wednesday. Bah, I hate getting screwed a few days after a price hike. I may have to look into reloading with the way prices are heading these days.

I find it interesting that the price of metals and oil goes up and down but the price of ammo only goes up. I have yet to see the price head down. In my opinion much of the recent price hikes do no at all relate to raw material costs but are tied to supply and demand. The demand has gone up while the supply has not and we and the government are willing to keep paying for it. It appears that the ammo is worth more to us than the price being asked for it. Hopefully, in a year or two there will be a ton of surplus ammo on the market and the economic equation will change.

Sports Authority in Frez has white box WW 9mm ball for $6.88/50. I bought a bunch today. Also, 10% off on all WW handgun ammo. The sale goes thru next week. Get it while you can boyz. You rule Snorkel Bob!

i really don't need any more 9mm, already have 6K+ rounds from the duarte store alone because that damn price.

given the price increase everywhere else, might as well go pick up some more.
