    reloading greek 30-06

can it be done? I hear that you can drill out a new primer hole... has anyone ever done this successfully?

The Greek HXP 30-06 brass is good reloadable brass. Only difference is the primers are crimped in. The Greek HXP brass has 3 stake marks that crimps the primer in. You can take your case mouth deburr tool and cut the stake marks off. Only takes 2-4 turns. Or you could use a countersink tool in a drill. Don't try a drill or it will grab the brass and maybe mess up the primer pocket. That's the only thing about the Greek brass is the primer stakes that I've seen.

The few empty greek cases I have are certainly reloadable. If your concern is the primer crimp, as RG pointed out a primer pocket reamer or swage will make short work of the crimp. I personally prefer the swage but reamer does the job fine.
I second RG's concern about using a drill, you are almost sure to muck up the primer pocket.
If by some chance the cases are berdan primed, they can still be reloaded but the effort is greater than the gain.

You're thinking of Berdan Primed cases......Greek is Boxer primed so no extra
work other than removing the Primer Crimp should be needed.

Some Military .06 ammo is Berdan Primed which is a different sized primer AND
the case has two flash holes instead of the normal single hole. Reloading these cases is a PITA!.

If you have Berdan Brass and you want to reload it you first have to remove
the primer. Two ways Hydraulic or Pry method. One Pain
Then you have to de-mill the anvil and drill a flashole, Another Pain.
Lastly you have to swage the pocket to make it slightly smaller to hold the
new primer (Berdans are slighty larger than LR primers) Last Pain.

Details can be found on 1919a4dotcom.

The Greek HXP brass is good brass for reloading. I have reloaded it several times and they are doing just fine.

                  HOW ABOUT CHINESE SURPLUS BRASS?

A few years ago, Cabela's had 400-rd. cans of 1970's Poon-San 30-06 for dirt cheap. I bought 2, and now I have a buttload of that '70-73' PS brass. Anyone have any experience with this stuff?

I've reloaded PS brass (poon tang, sang) it's korean brass. 47.5g of imr 4895 seemed to give best groups with 150g fmj (goldenwest brass) right around 2 inch groups for 8 shots. I am on the 4th reload so far and pockets are still snug. I pick it up at the range just have to remove the crimp in the pockets but I like the brass for reloading
