Receipe Request: 230gr .45 Copper Plated Titegroup

Anyone have a receipe for a 230gr Copper plated Round Nose xtreme bullet in .45 out of a 5" 1911 with Titegroup.

The FMJ receipe is min 4.4gr and max is 4.8gr.
Last time I loaded FMJ 230gr .45 I used 4.5gr of Titegroup and it shot well.

    One more try.
Is it the powder? I also have 231 that I could try.
I guess I will just have to load some and try.

I've used an xtreme 230 gr plated with TG but in my Glock 21. Btw, are you using Hodgdon's data? Because they use a short OAL for their .45ACP loads, which is 1.2" I believe. Other manuals have it listed with an OAL of around 1.27 or so. They have a little higher max than Hodgdon because of that and that's the data I've used to work up my loads with a 1.275 OAL.

        Here's my load/chronograph data FWIW:
Winchester Brass with a Remington LPP

4.6gr of Titegroup- Average FPS 772- STD 9.82
4.8gr of Titegroup- Average FPS 791.7- STD 20.1
4.9gr of Titegroup- Average FPS 815- STD 13.1
5.0gr of Titegroup- Average FPS 830.6- STD 17.9

Again, it's not the same gun and I'm not sure what OAL or other components you'll be using, but I just thought I would throw out some data that may or may not be helpful. Btw, with the exception of the dark smudge stain that TG leaves on the spent cases, it is very clean burning in the loads I've tested. All loads shot very well and loads 4.8gr-5.0gr felt very similar in recoil to factory 230gr ammo in my subjective opinion.

Per the website, 4.0gr - 4.8gr (never exceed) of titegroup for a Lead, round nose 230gr bullet. Use lead loading data when loading copper plated bullets. It's safer... (although, in this case the JHP data is 4.4gr - 4.8gr, so it doesn't really matter)

I'd give the titegroup a try. I load 231 in my 200gr .45 ACP lead loads and it's really dirty. After I'm out of 231, I'm going to switch to something else. Maybe blue dot...

Have two 5" Kimber's.Shoot 230 gr. fmj in front of 4.4 gr. Titegroup and O.A.L. of 1.265".Never chrono'd them but the're accurate with light recoil and Titegroup is a really clean burning powder.
