Need some quickload help for a .260

Trying to work up some loads for a new 260 rem...

Berger 140 VLD Hunting Bullet

25" barrel
1:8 twist
using WLR primers (if it matters)

Alot of guys I shoot long range with use H4831SC. Some use H4350 but you will reach presure signs before you will get the velocity you want to push those 140's in an 8 twist barrel. RL17 may also be good.
The load I use with H4831SC, and DO NOT copy this exacy load as I have a shorter lead and a match chamber, is 46.7gr , 142 SMK, col to ogive with a 5-26 collet is around 2.258", fed 210M primers. This load is compressed with my oal. You may be able to seat further out with the 140vld.

A couple guys shoot 139 scenars over a compressed load and shoot fine. The bergers I heard like speed, plus your twist will rob some velocity from you.

My barrel maker to help me out, said he had a new 3 groove design which would give a little bit of speed, so thats what my barrel is... I was just looking for some quick load numbers to get me started somewhere. Right now I have 1lb of H4350 and was debating picking up either IMR4831, H4831 or H4831SC... My Speer manual shows that the best velocity with the heavier bullets is with the Reloader 19 or the IMR4831....

Anyways, thats why I wanted the quick load data...

Why such a long OAL?
