    what happened here?

    I know what happened

I picked up a few hundred primed cases from another calgunner, I was not interested in decapping and re expanding (sounds dangerous)all these cases, can I just pull the decapping pin and re expand the rest of the cases?

Yes, you can pull the pin and resize and expand cases without removing the primer.

Is decapping and expanding done at the same station? On mine the powder die bells the mouth.

Normally it's decapping and sizing in station 1.

                Crooked seating.

BTW, it is perfectly safe to deprime if you're gentle.

on my .45ACP dies, you size first, then decap and expand with the 2nd die

you have to size a straight walled casing before you expand it. on my .44 mag setup. decaping and sizing are done with the first die, then only expanding with the 2nd die

                  here is my .45acp decaper/expander

                    What dies are those?
I have never seen that before.

In NORMAL dies, the first die sizes and decaps.
Then you prime the case, neck expand, charge, seat and crimp.
Some presses neck expand and charge in different dies.
Some presses do it in the same die.

                      RCBS stamped 79

I don't think it matters much which of the stages you decap, just so long as you resize before you expand straight walled casings

I use it with my rockchucker

It does if you want to use the dies in a progressive press.
Progressive presses were rare in 1979 so it did not matter then...

In a progressive press, you can only decap in one specific station as that's the one with the hole under the shellplate to let the primers out and catch them.

well then I guess these dies are single stage only... then again the sizer is threaded too, I am sure RCBS would sell me a decaping rod for a few bucks
