the 44spl is shorter then the 44mag

you can shoot 44 spl in a 44Magnum but not vice-versa.

the dies are 44spl/44mag

pls correct me if i am wrong.

the 44 mags were lenthened so the higher presser rounds would not fit in weaker and or older 44 special guns[ hopefully any way]. I've used a lot of 44 specials in my ruger 44 mag. Most definitly do not put 44 mags in a 44 special gun.
