I will be soon. In the process of buying an XD in .40S&W.

I'll most likely be using 185gr Precision Bullets with Clays for a light load or Titegroup for a full power load.

Oh, thanks. Let someone else take it, though. I'm good on brass. I stockpiled quite a bit of non-Glock fired .40 brass.

Man, I hate separating 40 and 9, those darn cases are too close in size.

with regard to reloading, is there a difference between glock fired and non-glock fired brass (of any caliber: 9mm, .40, .45)?

Well, I'm not sure if it's a problem with all Glocks, but the Glocks in .40 don't have a fully supported chamber. You can spot Glock fired .40 brass because there's going to be a bulge near the base of the case. Some think this brass is compromised while others the brass is still good and can be resized and used safely.

I owned 2 Glocks before I started reloading (and back when I only shot pistols). A G23 an G27, both in .40cal. I sold the G27 since it was worthless to me without a CCW, so I sold it to a guy in SB who had a CCW and put it to good use. I sold the G23 because I just didn't like the ergonomics of the Glock. Been using 1911s for any pistol shooting ever since.

But I have a XD Tactical 5" in 40 on order. So we'll see how that works out for me. I'm still a rifle shooter by nature, but I may as well go back to my pistol shooting roots.

I have no problems re-using my Glock shot .40 brass, many, many, many times over. But I do run it through a lee full length resize die in my XL650.

I think my step-mothers instructor (Cadet Training) actually took a 9 round and fed it by hand into her 40. So obviously the slug shot fine, but a 40 will not feed a 9 (Vice-versa) due to the different case sizes.

                              +1 on re-using Glock 40 brass.

However, as I resize them, I look for the tell tale sign of a "ring" at the bottom of the brass which to me is an indication that the integrity of the brass may have been compromise. If there is a ring, i toss away the brass.

What is the 'ring" you might ask? You'll know it when you see it. It will be very obvious.
