I have considered doing the same thing.
My issue is getting all the sensors setup to properly sense for jams.
Also, I'm not a software guy.
The last thing is figuring out how to collate 1000's of primers so you can leave the machine truly unattended.

I've seen similar set-up's in the past, but cannot see how you can totally rule out the human element.

One of the things I come across are those pesty small primer Win NT brass shells. Without the human element, how can you stop the primer seating process if you come across one of these?

Or how about when the brass shifts a bit on the shell plate, and the primer doesn't go in. (You have to manually spin the brass a bit to help realign it so the primer will seat).

Or how about when the casefeeder feeds a shell upside down? (All production stops until it is manually removed).

Or how about when a brass shell is expanded too much, or is oblong, and gets stuck in the casefeed body bushing. (No shells will feed into the shell plate until it is removed).

Or how about when the bullet doesn't seat properly in a charged brass casing.

        Too many variables to...umm..."just-set-it-and-forget-it".

And if you are going to monitor it anyways, well, might as well do it correctly, right?

Contraptions are cool. But they gotta be worth the added cost, and time, of making it.

        Cool to watch, though.

SUPER sexy. Obviously someone did this not for cost containment, but for the love of doing it. Certain risks are inherent here, so you better know what you are doing REALLY well and have some level of QC. Again though, I agree - got to love engineers applying automation DIY style.

You could show me a video of a guy who fully automated his car to drive him to work and I still would have a "HELL NO" look on my face. My hands and face are to important to trust to some Jerry-rigged machine in some guys bedroom. Neat toy and very cleaver but not for me, no thanks.

Why are we "Americans" so freaking lazy? We always innovate ideas to do our manual work.
