Page 200 is M118SB and page 208 covers M852 which is the 168gr SMK.
Note that the 168 only uses 42gr of 4895.
Also note that the 175gr SMK bullet is 0.05" longer than the 168.

    I can't find a published spec for M118LR.
The drawing is on everyspec in the MISC category. It's the third or forth line down.

    M118

    M118LR

On both my barrels, 4064 has worked quite a bit better with the 175SMK than IMR4895.

I use 43 gr Varget in LC Brass with 175gr SMK's. Get's me 2560 fps with chrono about 10 ft from muzzle of my 20" AR10. Groups at about .9 MOA, which is about as good as it gets with my AR10 shooting from a prone position.

2560 fps will keep me supersonic to about 1100 yards according to the ballistic calculators.

The spec on M118LR is approx 43.0 grn of RE15 (adjusted to pressure with each batch). A good duplicate is between 41.5 and 41.7gr H4895 with BR2 primers.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

I'm pretty sure M118 and M118LR are different revisions of the same drawing.

Sure, but they are completely different cartridges.

From the Lee reloading manual for a 175gr bullet using h4895 42.7 is "Never Exceed" load with a min OAL of 2.8 the starting grain is 40.00 Personally I just started loading 168gr SMK BTHP bullets using 42.00grs of H4895 I havent gotten to shoot them yet...

I myself got to 2560 fps (out of a 20" AR10) with 42.9 gr of Varget with LC cases and got sub MOA groups (only one 5 shot test performed).

43.5 gr of RL15 with LC cases only got me to 2520 fps. To get me to 2560 I'll probably need 43.9 gr. Which is kinda consistent with what I read from one of the guys from the FALfiles. He reported got 2730 fps out of a 24" barrel with 44.3 gr RL15 (which will be about 2630 for me).

                  ML11LR is 2700fps out of 20" barrel.

M118LR is designed primarily for the bolt actions that the snipers use so the 2700fps velocity should be from a 24" barrel.

That sounds more inline with the numbers I get.

I may well be wrong on this,
But I was under the impression that M118LR was designed to work on 7.62 semis?
If not, then its loaded awfully light for a bolt gun. 42gr of 4895 ain't sh*t.
Out of a 24" barrel I am just barely hitting 2725 FPS with 175 SMK and 45gr of Varget.

It may well be, but the primary use of M118LR is snipers, not MG's or semi-autos, though it would be the round of choice in the M110's as they get phased into SDM roles.

2700fps with a 175 SMK will do ANYTHING that a 7.62 rifle is tasked to do.
                            It's not a 300 win mag.

So 43grn of Varget seems to be the equivalent?

I'm trying to replicate this load for my 5R and I have a lot of Varget, Win primers and brass along with 175 SMK's.

                                175 smk 43.5 rl-15

I have been working on a load for my 24" rem 700 today I started at 43.0 rl-15 in a federal case 2683 fps moved up in .1 increments till I got to 43.5 at 2730 fps, no pressure signs on cases or primer, Now earlier I tried my load that works in my 20" sps tactical at 44.0 gr of rl-15 way to much pressure very flat primers and split two cases at 2733 fps so you can see that there was no difference from 43.5 to 44.0
