Here's a link with some pictures and a description of how much work it was to purchase the brass from the govliquidation site.

Read it and weep. Kidding.Brass Pr0n. Mostly all LC '05-'09 5.56mm and 7.62mm12k of 55gr fmj

Not sure if hes making any money.. But looks like fun. And he purchased alot more than the above auction.

I actually bid on some about 3 years ago , I was rather shocked at the final bid price . It went for way more than I thought it would .

Imagine how long it would take to tumble all that stuff.

Tell me if my math is off here....1700 lbs = 771,107 grams. Assuming dry, not full of dirt, fired 223 bras is about 6.4 grams/case. So that works out to about 120,000 cases (rounding down slightly). Or about $0.04/case. Lets call it $0.05 a case once shipping and misc fees are included.

New 223 brass can be had for just over $0.20/case. Haven't priced processed/ready to load once fired, but I'm guessing $0.10 to $0.15 per case?

So for your hassle, not to mention the time (and equipment) to process all this brass - you could make $5-10K, assuming you were able to sell it all. Figure a decked out 1050 and a cement mixer, prob an extra set of dies and trimmer bits, maybe $2000 in equipment. Still, that is $3-$7k clear, and you get to keep the equipment.

Me thinks it would probably take most of a year to process and sell this much brass - unless you sold it in bulk - which would mean a much lower price.

Companies that use camdex machine would buy this much brass. Not us mere mortals with Dillons.

The catch to was that the one I was bidding had 9mm 308 and 556 , I cant remember how much of each though. I figured I could make money on the deal but it would have taken along time and alot of labor.

Yea, I figured most of the lots were mixed, but I knew the math for 556/223 so I assumed it was all one type brass to make it easy.

Haven't priced 308, but my guess is that would be the most valuable (per pound, not just per round).
