    Differences in same caliber brass?

I finally got around to tumbling some brass I've had for a long time. A couple small bags of miscellaneous .38 spl over the last couple decades, maybe 400 cases total.

Realizing that some case walls will be a bit thicker/thinner, etc. How much real difference is there among the manufacturers? Some of the cases are pretty old and are the typical brass color, most are just a couple years old and are silver color. My 38 dies are STILL on backorder, so I'm just getting the stuff organized by manufacturer. I intend to load these on the very conservative side at low pressures. I can't visually see any differences in these. Are the +P+ cases stronger, or do they just put in more powder?

Here are a couple of the headstamps...
    (+P were shot through a .357 mag)
    R P .38 SPL
    FEDERAL 38 Special
    WW 38 Special
    WESTERN 38 Special
    WCC +P+ 7B(?) Might be 73
    RP 38 SPL +P
    W Super W 38 SPL +P
    WRA 38 SPecial
    Winchester 38 Special
    R-P 38Special HV (like a +P?)

MARKELL 38 Special (I'm very curious about this one, since I grew up near Markell's gun shop in SF, and am now wondering if they had some made)

regarding silver cases, if it is a shiny silver, it is probably nickel plated brass. Not a problem.

if it is a dull silver, its probably aluminum, from Blazer ammo, not reloadable.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

In the low pressure that straight walled pistol cases that the 38 special uses the differences in pressure due to case manfacturing is going to be negligable. For plinking ammo you can mix and match cases without issue.

The shiny silver (Nickel plated) cases are fine to mix with brass, like the poster above said the aluminum cases are not reloadable.

Thanks. I never keep the Blazer or Wolf stuff. Sort of figured that all this stuff would be fine for plinking rounds. I'll order some wadcutters and load away.
