    SMK 200gr & 220gr bullets (.308) use question

So i found a sweet deal on some .308 SMK 200gr and 220gr bullets. Before i buy them for the sake of a smokin deal, (not sure if i will even use them or not), what would be the use of a bullet this heavy? Im used to shooting 165gr and 168 SMK at 100 yards.

Wow, 200 and 220 grain bullets in .308?

I'm sure you can make it work. I use 'em in 300 Win Mag, and they shoot quite nicely.

What kind of deal are you getting?

Sierra only lists data in .308 for the 200 grain bullets. Those heavy pills were really meant for the big boys like the .300 WM, .30-338, .30-06, etc.

nosler doesn't list 200 or 220 gr for the 308 just it's big brother the 30-06!

Sounds like an excuse to get a 300 win mag...

You can use those bullets in 308. Need a fast twist barrels in 1-10" or faster.

I wouldn't. If you load them your odds are very high that they wont shoot well in your gun. You just wasted time, bullets, powder and primers. 5 years ago I would have said "sure what the hell, components are cheap and easy to find" but these days its a different story.

It was $30 for 200 bullets, 100 of the 200gr and 100 of the 220gr.

I would take them, at that price, they sound perfect for the .300 Whisper AR I'm still putting together. I've got the brass already in the tray, ready for some bullets...
All those sellers mentioned typically sell the 200/220 gr. at about $35 per 100.
I would snap up a deal like that.
