    shipping ammo with UPS

I'm shipping UPS ground some ammo. Do I need to tell the clerk what's in there ? Can I ship ammo from a UPS franchised store or do I need to go to the main office (usually the case for firearms)

    thanks

You have to mark the box ORM-D.
    Do ask, dont tell.
Its up to the location. People have had luck just dropping it off at the franchised store.

Pretty good write up on shipping ammo here:

I've done it at the main UPS branch and had the ORD-M thing on box. I was honest and upfront and there were no problems at all.

Take the box to UPS, not the "other" place, most will not take the box,
the little stores are not "ups" and are not requied to ship your box.

And the ups shipping center will have the proper label for your shipment.
And yes by all means let them know what is in there.
Live ammo goes ground, fed law says not by air. Along wit a host of "other" regs.

Take the box to a UPS customer center only, not a UPS store or any other authorized outlet. Find a location here:

The customer center does not have ORM-D labels. Print the the labels I have provided below and put one on your box. You do not need to tell the clerk what is in the box. It must be shipped ground only. You can only ship ammunition via this process, not loose powder or primers.

Ive been turned away by the little stores and instructed to bring the ammo to the main facility. You have to declare the ammo, so no one gets in trouble. As long as your shipping to an area that allows ammo delivery, then your fine.

I took some to MB ETC, and placed the ORMD label. Told her what was in the box, she asked if I wanted UPS or FED EX. I said what ever is cheapest fastest ground. She said Fed ex. I asked, "even for ammo?" she said no problem. I droped the cash and rolled...
