    Powder question

I'm trying to start reloading for my AR .233 i've got everything I need except powder.

Anyone know where to get Ramshot Tac, or Varget or heck anything else I can use. I'd like to find it locally(Riverside/Ontario area) so I can buy a smaller amount to experiment with different brands to find what I like. I don't want to be eaten alive by the hazmat fee.

    Thanks

    Just eat it, eat it!!

At times like these right now you are just going to have to eat the hazmat. Part of reloading is using different powders and loads to see what you and your gun likes. Save plenty of money and buy several 1lb bottles, Win.748,
H335, Varget, Ramshot Tac, Accurate 2230 etc. When you find the one you like search for it locally. When you can't find it, well order in bulk, several 8 pounders and eat the hazmat again!! The first one you pay to experiment, the 2nd hazmat is to pay to play. That's the cost of the game. Best to get together with a fellow shooter and split the hazmat and shipping.

What bullet are you planning on using? What is your barrel twist? I've had good results from VV powders (I use VV N540 under the Sierra 77 gr. MK).

BTW, 1 lb is as small as you're going to find, and you can combine several bottles on one hazmat fee. Powder isn't as scarce as primers, but you'll be lucky if you get much selection on a shelf.

I recall you can get something like 50 lbs of powder on one hazmat fee, correct?

Accurate 223 powder likely the most economical.. It's a good powder.

Well I guess i'll just man up and order some online. Funds are a bit tight right now I just finished my AR build.

The bullets I picked up are 55gr FMJ boat tail from ammo bros. I've got a Rock River Coyote upper on it 1/9 twist.

I'm not planning on buying 48 pounds yet still trying to see if reloading is for me. But I love tweaking and fine tuning stuff so I have a feeling I'll enjoy it.

I've got a 1000 Winchester small rifle primers if anyone local(riverside/ontario) wants to trade some for some powder.

                Thanks

Phillips Wholesale in Covina seems to have a variety of powders. Don't ask for a recommendation, cause he won't give it.
