removing live Berdan primers from 7X57mm

I was looking into possibly using the hydraulic method to remove live primers out of old military berdan primed brass. I have watched a lot of videos on the hydraulic method, which until today I was totally unaware of.
I was going to try a shell holder and some form of punch that will fit the case mouth.
I was curious if anyone has done this in the past with luck?
I was also wondering if any knows of any already thing already made that would work.

    Thank you

Sorry, I should have included that information. They are the old military type that are corrosive. I could use the cartridges as they are hard to come by.

Use them by shooting them. If you have the time you can convert them to accept boxer primer unless you have berdan primers on hand. I?ve converted some 80?s 762x54r brass that was berdan and some Chinese brass as well. I don?t use these converted cases for full house loads they?re for my cast loads. If you?re interested I can post a few pics on this thread or you can google it. As for corrosive ammo, like most who have been shooting surplus guns for years- just clean your gun after.

That is one possibility was I sleeping on last night. Shoot the ammunition then clean the rifle with hot water and Ballistol. At least its a bolt action rifle and I don't have to worry about gas return mechanisms getting full of the stuff.

I am going to look up Coverting the primer pockets or getting non-corrosive berdan primers.

          Thank you

When you get the primers out, measure them carefully. It turns out there are a zillion different Berdan primer sizes, so if you opt for non-corrosive Berdan replacements you will need to know what size to get.

Converting berdan to boxer is an involved process, and then at the end of it you still have to find the right kind of primers. I haven't seen those in the market for years.

I think converting 30-06 would be easier.

But if you want the already-made solution, this:
Imported from Serbia. Fully reloadable brass cases. Accept boxer primers. This is not loaded ammunition.

It's not worth converting primer pockets in brass that can be obtained with boxer primers already.

Your not converting the primer pocket to boxer. But new brass or form the brass from another caliber.
