    #$&%#(^##$$%# One Shot !!!!!

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.

Once again One Shot NH got a case stuck. Not just one of my 10's of thousands of LC223 but 1 of my 40 Norma 6.5-284 cases .

On Sunday I had been working all day on a project for work. I was brain fried so I figured I'd relax with a little reloading. I could not find my RCBS lube but found a full bottle of One shot that I had put away a couple years ago. I had a couple case stuck by it so I set it aside and said I would never use it. Well, my confidence and courage was high so I decided to use it. Maybe it was not really as bad as I remember. Second ****ing case in the die and it was stuck solid. @$%#$%^#$!!#$!@#&$%^$%^ . I had to drill out the rim and use a bolt extractor to get it out. I broke the first extractor but then heated it and used a larger extractor. I couldn't pound it out from the top because the decapping pin was stuck in it too.

So now I only have 39 cases for my gun. I HATE having an uneven number of cases. Not sure why but it drives me nuts. I'm just glad my die was not wrecked. I dug around some more and found my little bottle of RCBS lube. Its messy and a PITA to clean but it works. I ran the full bottle of One Shot to the bathroom and dumped it down the drain. I then prayed to God he would remove the evil sprite and rubbed goats blood around the bathroom door frame. My family and I are staying at the Motel 6 across town until its safe to go back. What an awful product.

I'm with you on the odd # of casings. It is a little OCD but I only deal in multiples of 5. If it is not I dont keep the casings with my reloading equipment, they get banished to a box by my safe.

I use one shot and every 20 cases or so I shoot a little bit up into my die to help prevent the dreaded 'stuck case syndrome'. I haven't had a stuck case in some time but before that I had them ocassionally.

The funny thing is, I thought one shot was the next advance in case lubing over rolling. However, I had never had a single case get stuck when I rolled but have had dozens of cases get stuck with one shot. Sometimes advance in technology don't translate to being better than the technology they were created to replace.

I still use one shot but spray frequently and use a lot of it.

I agree. When I first started reloading the older guy teaching me showed me how to put a little on a spunge then rooolllll the case around. When I went off on my own I said "screw this" and laid all the cases out on a cookie sheet and sprayed them all at once because this was the "NEW" way to do things. This worked fine aside from the occasional stuck case. Not that big of a deal when all your brass is 223 range seconds. Now that I buy unfired brass in a semi-wildcat cartridges and spend the extra time and money making sure they last, loosing one is now a big deal especially on cases that are fire-formed to your chamber. Now I have to buy the brass and fire it once wasting powder, primer, and bullet just to add it into my collection.

I'm half considering writing Hornady a letter but they would most likely send me an apoligy and a free bottle thous contaminating my house once again.

Good to know, I was actually going to use it during my next loading session.

I think I'll dig out the old school stuff.

I used to use canola oil. Spray some on shake it around in bag until its evenly coated then size them. If you use to much you end up with dented necks. Or you can make a analog to Dillon case lube by dissolving lanolin in alcohol.

This is what I did. Works like a champ! Fry's has the 99% alcohol and you can order the lanolin on Amazon.

For $30 I have enough lube for the rest of my life probably, and it leaves your skin silky soft (and smelling like a sheep, if you're into that sort of thing).

Lanolin you can get in the drug store. It'd be around the breastfeeding gear as a nipple care product (no BS).

I've used up at least 20 cans of One Shot and haven't stuck a case yet.
