    Tax on ammo transfers

I am about to place an order with Target Sports. They charge CA tax.
It seems that most FFL's here say that on top of their fees they need to charge CA usage tax on anything that crosses state lines.
Does mean that I'll get taxed twice or once they see that I already paid CA tax that this wont apply?

Not sure exactly what they mean by 'usage tax'??? I would check with that specific FFL that you're planning on using. The one I used didn't charge anything, but that was a while ago. All they did was double check my sales receipt to make sure I paid the sales tax to Target Sports. But, that was a while ago.

My FFL doesn't collect tax if you can show proof that tax was paid elsewhere.
My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.

A use tax only applies if sales tax has not been collected. Show the FFL the receipt showing that CA sales tax has already been paid.

Pick your FFL carefully because they vary widely on their fees for handling delivery from nothing to as much as $25 per 1K rounds in Sac area. The latter would have charged $125 for a 5K case of Mini-Mags just to receive shipment.

Who is the best FFL you have found for receiving ammo delivery in Sacramento?

Not in Sac proper, but I like Redline Ballistics in Rancho Cordova. Family run and always very helpful IME.
                  Good luck!
