    Bench ideas

Moved back to CA recently and my reloading bench didn’t make it due to down sizing. Any ideas for a small reloading bench? The garage is pretty packed but I think I could squeeze a small bench with some rearranging. Just need some ideas on what to use. I primarily use a Dillon 550. It doesn’t need to be portable.

I admittedly didn’t look through the reloading bench pictures thread for very long due to how long it?s taking for pages to load in the forum.

do you weld? I made mine out of steel it is moveable as well as very sturdy.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Haborfreight everywhere in CA. If you can mount the press on the side then you don't sacristy the bench drawer.

If you can fit (drill & screw) you press to this plate then you can mount portable your press to anywhere. I saw a guy screw a 3/4" plywood board on top of his tool box then use this Bench Plate to mount his press on top of his tool box.
Lee Bench Plate allows for quick press removal without unbolting from bench. Includes 3 base blocks; one drilled to fit all current Lee metallic presses. Special elevator bolt hardware included. Powder coated, thick steel mounts quickly and securely to any bench or tabletop.

BTW, this is my press set up, if want the pictures then PM me.

I found an old solid core door on Craigslist for $10. I trimmed it to fit in my small garage.

I added legs. I now have a single stage press and two progressives mounted to it.

This is what I did previously except I used the entire door. Will probably just build a scaled down version.

I initially used a Workmate, foldable, work 'bench' way back when. It's very small, but has a lot of strength. I still have it after 30+ years, but graduated to a real hand-made, large work bench.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

                      A very compact reloading statiion!

I've been using a Lee Precision reloading stand, the 3 legged one. I reload in a condo's laundry room, with me and the laundry gear in the room, and the press mostly outside in the doorway. I've been doing this for about 5 years now. Originally I had a Lee Classic Turret set up, and this last year I picked up a Dillon 550B.

To mount the Dillon some drilling was needed in order to bolt the press to the stand, AND some modificatiion (a grinding wheel was what I used) to cut some of the finished cartridge chute so it would mount.

So far I've not had to use any weight on the bottom of the stand while loading straight walled cartridges, but it's possible that when I get to the bottleneck cases, I'll need some weight.

My "table" is the top of the dryer and washer, and when not loading, I pick up the press/stand and move it. This works well for me, but I have dreams of having a workbench!!!!!

I use 2" square thick wall metal tubing to make a rolling pedestal tool stand. Press is mounted for standing use.
