    7.62x39 reloading

Anyone out there loading the Russian 7.62x39 on their 1050 0r 1100. If so what's your setup and choice of dies and was there issues. Thanks.

The only caliber I had no desire to reload was the Russian 7.62x39mm

It is cheaper to buy Wolf, Tula or Yugoslavian surplus

Next thing you're going to tell me is you had no desire to reload 5.45x39. J/K

I have a set of lee dies somewhere, but have never gotten around to loading any x39. Would have to find lead free bullets for my intended use. Since it?s not a priority project, more just a fun idea, I?ve never bothered.

When you find bulk boxer brass and bullets please keep us posted. I’d reload it.

I've loaded 7.62x39 for years, but not on a Dillon. No real issues and use Lee dies.

Case head for X39 is very close (+.007 on drawings) to 38spl - 357Mag. Depending on the precision and contour of the shell plate / shell holder for Dillon, that one may or may not work.
Not really familiar with the intricacies of Dillon conversion kits, but maybe could cobble something together to work.

I use a hornady single stage or my lee turret press. Too expensive to convert my dillon for what I shoot out of my ak47. I use mixed commercial brass, large rifle primers cfe black and 123 gr privi bullets

I've run some test loads on my T7 for a few hundred rounds so I have good data for producing large quantities. I just don't know if it cost effective to spend $230 on Dillions conversion kit.

So new brass is available from Starline from time to time and there are a few companies selling once fired reloadable, so it's out there.

Diamond K Brass has decent prices on once fired. Have to check each case for the Berdans. Only headache with 7.62x39 in bulk is most (all?) projectiles are flat base so have to be careful not to shave off some of the base seating it.

Diamond K definitely has the 7.62 brass but they kill you on shipping even though its via USPS.

As for projectiles, I'm giving X-Treme's 125gr a try. With the .311 expander on the RCBS de-cap die there little no shaving when seating. The .125 measure out to .310 consistently.

Hopefully I can get out soon to run the ladders on my 70 and 72 Yugos.

When the stupid CA ammo law came into effect, I bought a lot of wolf ammo to stock up, but also some ppu (I think) boxer primed 7.62x39 to reload so I wouldn't have to deal with the ammo law (which turned out to be more of a nuisance than a real problem). I still haven't gotten to it yet due to the sheer amount of wolf ammo I bought!

I've been reloading for years using Lee dies. Local ranges like Angeles don't allow magnetic bullets, so lots of surplus is out, same with most wolf/s&b/etc.

I use cheap prvi projectiles from grafs and 4198. I'm going tontry cfe-blk and see if I can get better groups.

My loads work, but never quite match wolf for accuracy.

I'm on the 6th or 7th loading on one batch of brass. It looks like hell but still works.

                              I reload 762x39 and 5.45x39.
I use starline for 7.62, and convert .222/223 for 5.45.
