    9mm red tips

I've been shooting pulled bullets from American reloading for a while now. I've gone through 1000's of them in many calibers with no problems. The last batch of 5000 115gr had a few hundred with painted red tips on them. The batch was 115gr pulled plated bullets. After looking a little on the internet looks like these could be tracer rounds. I shoot mostly at an indoor range. Would you load em up or put them aside. Thanks

Usually from understanding the tracer compound is in the base of the projectile so maybe save them for another range? I know the indoor range would frown on them.

Easy way to tell is to set one projectile on a non flamable surface and set fire to the base of the bullet with a torch. you'll find out if it's a tracer or not.

I'd think that the combustible material on the base would be obvious compared to a normal bullet, but that's a guess.

Can you Post a picture of the base of the bullet so we can see what it looks like?9mm tracers should have a slight inward concave or a hole filled with compound.

Or a good way to be booted off YouTube

I set fire to a 30/06 tracer when i was about 14 looked like a small road flare. Burned for a short period of time like maybe 5 seconds.

It's probably not military. I haven't heard of any military that uses tracers for 9mm. If they are tracers, they were probably made for retail sales and have a much shorter burn time than military tracers. Not to mention a 9mm bullet can't stay airborne for very long unless you point it up in the air.

Give it to me and I'll call my buddy that has a machine gun.

Just load one up and shoot it, I’ve reloaded a lot of the pulled Winchester 40s yeah they’ve worked great. Great prices on them too.

There’s a really good chance even if they were meant to tracers that the ones you got are inert.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

                        I looked it up.

Might be more interesting with a handful of them.

Are you sure they are jacketed/plated? Federal has been marketing their Syntech ammo for a while, with the bullets being polymer coating over lead. Perhaps it is some of these?

                              Are the tips red?

With Syntech the whole bullet is red.
