    Best option for a scale

What is the best deal you have found for an instrument to weigh charges? The trade off tends to be accuracy vs. price.

I use an RCBS Chargemaster Combo. I don’t know if it’s the best deal, but it does everything I need, so it’s worth it to me.

I am a fan of the small digital scales. I tare with the empty case or hull, drop into the case or hull and put it back on the scale. I get the direct charge weight in whatever units I want. I first bought a Lyman Pocket scale. That was in the $30 range. Then I bought a similar small pocket scale on Amazon for like $16. That is what I have been using. The Lyman resloves .1gr. The Amazon cheapy resolves .02gr.

The exact one i bought a couple of years ago doesn't seem to be available. If I click "buy again" this is what comes up. It's very similar. Mine came with a few different powder funnels.

          depends on what you want.

If you are just going to drop charges with a volume powder measure and only need to check the average. all you need is a balance.

If you desire to be more precise than that you need to spend about $1000 on a auto trickler V4

$150 buys the gold standard for balance a beam scale designed for Reloaders.

Past CGs posts discuss plenty of lesser quality BB scales performing poorly. Go cheap and hope for the best.

I have a rcbs 10-10 scale and a couple small cheap digitals.

I'm curious as to how accurate the factory loads are.

Be aware that these strain gauge scales drift horribly with temperature swing.

I had a Gempro and it was a great little scale except it drifted with temp changes.
I don't have AC and sometime it gets pretty warm in San Diego. and the Gempro would not tolerate it.

I have a 10-10 (older model) and a Ballistic Products battery operated digital. Plenty for me.

If you want to charge to a weight, then balance. If you want to see what something weighs then digital.

Digital lags a little when trickling and has a bit of hysteresis if you go over then try to little out. My little battery digital doesn’t drift, or at least not visibly so. And it checked out accuracywise against a microgram lab scale.

                    I really don’t care about 0.02 grains. That’s 1 kernel of H4831.

Negative on the cheaper digital scales. Simply not dependable. Been using my Ohaus 10-10 since '78. Works.

That's all anybody needs. If you're in doubt, weigh the charge every few powder measure throws.

I have that scale but would like the exact same size and format in a 0-100 grain range. I never use mine for measuring anything over 60 grains. Can't find one.
