Just as the title says, looking for a pet load for 44 mag. either 180gr or 240gr HP bullets.

You had me till you specified bullets.

Otherwise I'd have said 2.1CC 3F Shooters World Black under a 205 RNFP Bear Creek Supply moly bullet.

Elmer Keith's loads still work great. Start there, with the father of the 44M.

I dont shoot a lotof HPs out of my guns. 7grns of TG behind a 200grn coated. or 23.7 h110 behind a 240. are my 2 favorites to shoot out of my dan wesson and my 1892.

Are you looking for moderate plinkers or full magnums? pet loads can mean a lot of things

I like 44 Special for light loads in my 44 Magnum revolvers.

For 44 Magnum mid range loads I do 7 grains of Unique under a X-Treme plated 240 grain bullet. Velocity right at 900 fps.

40 years ago I was a big fan of the 44 Magnum with 2400, W296 or Blue Dot. Hot loads indeed but now it is about accuracy so now Unique, W231 or even Bullseye.

LOL he's asking for .44 mag, not .44 Russian. and a BP sub, no less

OP, try 8.5 Win 231 under lead 240 swc. I've used the HSM bullet sold at Sportsman's.

629-6 with 5" barrel right around 1000 fps and good accuracy.

Yes, he's asking for .44 MAG.

                That's what I load in .44 MAG.

I use it when I shoot .44 MAG in my .44 MAG rifle that's chambered in .44 MAG.

That is my .44 MAG pet load.

doesn't change the objective fact it is NOT a .44 Mag load.

I'd like to see you shoot it in something chambered for .44 Russian or .44 spc.

                      Keith load.

You may be able to outsmart a few people.

                      Elmer ain't one of them.

"629-6 with 5" barrel right around 1000 fps and good accuracy". Is that the baseline for 44 "magnum"?
Some think black powder and black powder substitutes are weak.

                        Here's one of Elmer's loads

Both of these are in 45 colt though, but it's still kinda relevant.

Dude - do you even have a .44Mag?

                            My pet loads:

250gr SWC, 8.5gr 700x. Mild to moderate, very accurate

Sierra 220gr Tournament FPJ (no longer made ) 20gr 2400. This one is a boomer, but very accurate as well.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Not a HP. My only load is a Montana Gold 240gr JSP with 15.0gr HS6 w/Starline brass. Ruger Redhawk with 4.2" barrel.
