    Cheap Walnut Media

If any one is looking for a good place to get walnut media for polishing I just picked up a 50 pound bag for $17.50...$19.03 with tax at R&L Feed store in Chino. I got the last bag but they get it in on Tuesdays. Give them a try if you are in the area.

Damn that is pretty cheap. Is there a difference compared to corn media?

I have always used the Walnut but most of the reloading books refer to them both as the same. Corn is easier to wash and recycle but I just throw it away. The one time I tried to put it in a paint strainer bag and wash it in the machine with Tide and a grease cutter it just made a mess out of the washing machine.

The Walnut is more abrasive than the corn cob. Walnut will will cut through tough stuff faster. However cob will leave a brighter smoother luster on your brass. I recommend first using walnut then finishing off in cob. I have done this and the results are great!

I just mix 50/50 walnut/corn & some polishing compound or Nu Finish car polish.

Nothing new, if you go to most if not all animal FEED stores, they have crushed walnut shell for dirt cheap. Nice you found reloaders little secret
