    IMR4895 Powder

Hey guys, I am looking for some IMR4895 powder. None to be found locally.
Need to feed my Garand and her sister M1A. I have been working up alternative
powders for the M1A, IMR4064 and IMR3031 since 4895 is not around. Neither of those two powders are recommended for M1. I would like to stay with 4895, I have my loads dialed in using 4895.
Let me know if you can part with some IMR4895.
    What a Hobby !
    Thanks in Advance!

        You are incorrect about IMR4064
Probably the second most used powder for the Garand....

IMR3031 has been used for the light 110 and 125gr loads, but not really great.

I need to find a new powder for my 168s as IMR are all 300+ per 8#. I think I'll try AA2520. Can utilize it for 150s as well. Accurate powders seem to be cheapest consistantly.

Midway does have IMR4895 in stock. But with Hazmat and shipping brings it to $83 a pound. That is crazy and out of my price range.

Buy 2lbs (or more right?) and you just pay the Hazmat surcharge. Comes out to $50/lbs. Or just use 4064 like I suggested.

You need to buy it by the 8#. Cheapest way to buy powder. But realize IMR is going to be the most expensive just like all the Vitavori Powders. Learn a new recipie with Hodgen or Accurate. Hodgen still a little more expensive e but not as high as IMR unless you need Varget or H4350.

I am not sure if it's to late, but Hodgdon was offering no haz mat fees on their site 3 days ago. I did not check availability of the mentioned powder, but it's worth a try.

                    Good luck,

                    Jay

The code is FREEHAZMAT. It should be good through today.

That's a decent price even after $22 hazmat.

That's why you buy 16 pounds at a go.

Keep in mind the whole idea of proper burn rate and port pressure and the myth of beating up or breaking your rifle is just that, a myth. Quickload shows you can run some pretty slow powders and not have port pressures higher than 4895. I've got loads with 175 SMK's using H380 and MR2000.

Master Po's Temple was a website that had a bunch of M1 Garand reloading data on it, but it was a very old site that looks like it was created back in the infant days of the Internet. Fortunately someone on another forum saved all the data and reposted it for posterity! I don't know if Joe or...
