I don?t use a filter.
I do it with the garage door open and a fan pulling fumes away.
If you?re outside I think you?d be good as long as you?re not trying to sniff it and don?t get it overly hot.
How big a pot are you using?

I have never used a filter just keep the doors and windows open and run a fan but don't direct the fan directly at the pot but just above it.Reloading Supplies of all types (PRESSES, POWDERS, PRIMERS, DIES, BRASS, MANUEL'S, TRIMMERS, LEAD, CASTING EQUIPMENT AND MORE) (NEW, USED, OLD, VINTAGE, DISCONTINUED, HARD TO FIND)

any fumes are from oil, rubber, old bullet lube etc. the lead should never get hot enough. Maybe if RED hot yeah but it is NOT volatile. Casting 45 years NO mask but EYE protection for splash will hurt you big time and gloves is HOT. You get lead in your blood from breathing in DUST or eating on food wash hands before eating and NO problem it will not make fumes.Comment

Lead smelting - especially in bullet casting home sized operations - is pretty safe. But there are small amounts of lead in the air even in casting. A small fan or working in open spaces is smart and useful and also probably more than adequate to protect you there.
Totally agree a mask and filter is almost certainly overkill unless you?re casting in a closet with the door shut.
You are far more likely to get lead exposure from handling the lead, tools, and other surfaces and not following proper hygiene afterwards like really good hand washing and surface cleanup, etc.

Brownells Marvelux
Borax powder,
Do not use any commercial candle wax, You have no idea what kind of perfumes and other contaminates are in it. I've never had good luck with Beeswax. Marvelux is what I've found to work well for me.Comment
