The joys of 45 acp reloading.

I've been learning about 45 acp. Small primers sucks. Federal, blazer and speer have them.
Found that S&b brass pockets are small as Speer for lpp.
O the joys of 45acp. My eyes aren't like they used to be. Sorting headstamp is not a fun thing to do.
What do I do with the crap brass? The sb, and speer?

Put the brass off to the side and either sell as scrap or sell to someone else as small primer 45. Since you know its all small primer though I would reload it again and then just not collect it back at the range.

You'll be doing God's work if you scrap all SPP 45acp brass.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Why are you sorting by head stamp? biggest waste of time ever. well next to weighing primers.

my SPP 45 ACP brass gets scraped. sold to the recycler never to enter the the food chain of reloading again they are the scourge of the planet

Sorting by HS, so I can cull out the bad and fugly. Just three piles.
          Lpp.
          The devils brass.
          And the speer/s & b pile.

I run out of LPP, if you have 45ACP shell SPP let give/sell them to me, I need around 500-1000 shells, just enough to get me going with 45ACP. Don't worry I will collect all of my shell at the range.

I'll let you know. Have another bucket to go through. Seems out of a 5 gallon pail, I get about a third good brass, third of spp and third of crap brass.

I'll chime in and when I was new I had no idea there were options. Haha why isn't this primer fitting, I sort them out, and work hard not to contaminate the rotation.

I don't discriminate on 45ACP brass. OP, what I do is either use a magnifier to verify size. Another dirty trick I use to sort them is after decapping the primers I use the opposite end of a Lee Decapping Pin. It just so happens that if it's LPP, the round end will fit in the pocket. If its SPP it won't. Think of it as a NO GO Gauge for 45ACP brass. No need for eyesight, just test fit.

                    Hope this helps!

have you found small primer brass not stamped "n t" i thought the small primers were all in the non toxic /rangesafe /"lead exposure" reducing types

Run them through a lee app swadge after deprime. Not to uncrimp pockets, just to check if I missed one.

Sucks having to go through buckets of brass culling. Don't have that issue with most pistol calibers.

My .45 ACP brass that is no longer loadable gets turned into key chains as do other calibers.

I save all my spp brass separately and then load them all up in one batch.

Then I shoot and leave them all at the range for someone to pickup.
