You only crimp when the bullet has a cannelure. Cut or knurled. If you y try crimping without a cannelure, you may get a bulged shoulder which will prevent chambering. It doesn?t take much of a bulge to cause problems.

I finally had the time to do some troubleshooting. First thing I found is, I am an Idiot. I load for a .223 Bolt as well, I took the expander ball out of the Die and then use an expander mandrel as an additional step on brass for the Bolt gun. Well guess who didnt put the expander ball back in the resizing die before resizing the brass for the semi auto...seating the bullet on a case neck that is too small increased pressure and distorted the brass...Hopefully, someone else can learn from my stupid mistake. anyone know a quick way of seperating loaded rounds? I got quite a few of them to seperate.

Did you ever actually check to see if they need separating?

As of post 14 you had not. And make no mention of doing so, in posts following 14.

Cartridge gauges are often different than your barrel's chamber.
Typically, a cartridge gauge should be smaller than the barrel's chamber so that any cartridge which fits in the gauge would fit into any barrel.

However, it only matters that the cartridges fit your actual barrel since your barrel is likely larger than the gauge.

So before you do a bunch of unnecessary work to try to fix the cartridges that you percieve to be wrong, check the suspect cartridges in the barrel you actually want to shoot them in.
