I don't reload anything but I get adds weekly from Natchez ShooterSS.com for primers and usually give them no attention, take a looksee at their website.

Every place sitting on large stores of overpriced primers is trying to sell them before the market price drops and their currently overpriced inventory becomes harder to sell.

Anything large is still not on shelves at any store I go into. But, they have a good supply of anything small. And, the prices are still grossly inflated. Stop buying the inflated pricing levels and costs with come down. If people are still buying at the inflated pricing, then the market will think it's okay to sell at those prices. B.

Yeah - they have to try to maintain their margin. The sunk cost of the bought and paid for inventory will be an issue if the gates open and the prices drop.

As an aside - I was at a gunshow today, and dealers were still trying to get $125/K for their primers. No one was buying, and the boxes are starting to get dusty.

Was at bass pro in San Jose today, they had about 15 sleeves of 100 primers at $8.99 a pop. Didn?t check the type, as I?m set on everything I shoot for a while. Last few times I was at various local shops I?ve seen even less inventory being carried. They could be hiding them in the back, but I find it doubtful. I don?t think there are enough unsold in the system anyone will take a serious hit in profit, at least in my area.

I was at the RC BPS early last week for just a single box of 30-30. There were 3 guys a head of me and 2 guys working the cash registers, it only took an hour for me to get what I needed.. What a cluster F#<& they have going on. The funny thing is that they seem proud of their system.

They had about 20x1k boxes of Winchester SPP in a portable cage. They didn't even know they had em. I should have never asked for the price ($90.00) it just added on to my wait.

I completely agree no reason for primers to he this expensive

They will remain at these prices as long as people are clamoring to buy them.

Yes, like I said Federal, CCI and others have raised prices 5-15% but primers are marked up 300%, who's getting the $$?

I was getting 1k for $30 before all this. Even a 20% increase would be less than $40. Even I could understand even $50 right now but what I'm after is are Midway and other big retailers getting them direct from the manufacturer, if so they are the ones just raking us over the coals.

Im sure they were cheaper than the 27$ for 1k Small rifle CCI and 34$ for Large rifle I paid years ago.

No way im paying 95$ for 1k of sr and 130$ for LR now

Shooting, and reloading, used to be a blue collar hobby. Those days are gone for the foreseeable future


The primer market can stay irrational longer for as long as you can sit around and complain instead of enjoying a day on the range.

If you look at the ticker OLN, you’ll get your answer.

From what I know in business, demand is up, so the manufacturer enjoys the biggest bump in margins. It starts out with them reducing or not discounting when they sell, then increasing prices. Some of that goes to expenses, sure.

Knowing just a weebit in the ammo sector, OLN for example produces primers all the way to factory ammo. It can skip and sell directly in the supply chain where it makes sense. Looking at the stock prices, you’ll see theyve had a good time.

Also have some insight in the reloading sector. Those guys had a great time financially, but are challenged operationally as not all cyclinders are firing in the supply chain.

All together, good for their industry but the profits are all over the place depending on what you make or sell.

Things arent sold for what they're worth, they're sold for what you'll pay.

Prices will unconditionally not drop until people stop buying, or if maybe exp decides to upend the market by undercutting absolutely everyone.

My local Sportsmans Warehouse does not have primers often but when they do they are a little over $5 a 100. I doubt they are selling them for a loss.

Large rifle are hard to find but even at $130 a thousand they are a pretty small part of my overall cost to reload. Now if I have to pay close to $100 for my 9mm's that is a huge part of the overall cost.
