Stain in primer tray?

I noticed these stains in the primer trays of my recently purchased CCI 500's

Leaking primer compound?

Is this something to be concerned about? The first tray had one pocket that had this stain and I didnt notice until they were all out and into the primer loading tray. So I got 1 in 100 in a batch.

The next tray I inspected before removing them and noticed two pockets with the stains. Anyone ever seen this before? Since I know the two pockets on this second tray, Im going to load them and keep them separate to test out.

I've seen this before. I would assume it's primer compound residue. I don't think it would be an issue. I wouldn't try and hunt it down but if you notice anything before you flip the primers in your tray, you can pull affected ones out. If you can't notice any difference, then load away. I have not (yet) had an issue with squib loads lower power ammo from loss of primer compound. I have only had non firing primer not go bang(usually hard primer cups like Tula that gave me headaches).

yeah, it wasnt an issue. the second tray had 3 of these. I loaded them up and they fired just fine. Good to know. Thanks!

I don't know this to be true, but it's possible that they use the trays that the primers are shipped in from the beginning of the primer manufacturing process.

If they do, then they would put primer cups into the tray, then charge the cups with priming compound and then set anvils into place.

The pockets with the stains could be priming compound that spilled which would seem to point to the primers in those specific pockets being a little short on priming compound.

Excessive primer compound during manufacturing process - nothing to worry about. Per CCIexpert.

I have my doubts. Primer compound in the cups looked lacking. They did go off but I'm going to discard future ones. My best guess is they are producing faster than normal and the primer compound isnt fully dry yet before packing.
