First semi-auto pistol

I just purchased a Walther P22 and haven't had the chance to take it out to the range yet and probably won't be able to until after Christmas. My question is, can you cycle .22LR snap caps thru it to check that it's feeding well and and not jamming?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can, but it will only test function to a certain extent, you could manually cycle your slide and seem to have no problems and then still have a problem when shooting. But it would catch some problems, extractor/magazine issues perhaps. Don't dryfire it *too* much though.
