    303 primers

I have about 200 rnds. of 303 ammo with bad primers that wont go bang. I had to sort them out by headstamp. I can pull the bullets to reload, but when i pull the projectiles, can i use the same powder/cordite to reload in new cases and primers? They are 1945 headstamped.
    Thanks

I'd suggest disposing of the cordite properly and using a newer powder instead. But, if you are an experienced reloader and want to experiment a little, let us know how it turns out.

You can't reload cordite into new cases. At the factory, cordite was inserted into the cases before the case necks were formed. There's no way to squeeze all of the cordite into a new case that already has a formed neck.

Even if the ammo used powder instead of cordite, reloading pulled down powder from surplus ammo is considered unsafe at worst and very advanced level reloading at best. You have to be sure that all of the ammo is from the same lot, since ammo plants sometimes switched powder types from lot to lot and sometimes batches of surplus ammo you buy contain ammo from different lots. And you can't just use the same amount of powder that was in the surplus ammo in your new load, since case capacity might be different in your new brass.

and you are very likely to find that the .303 ammo is Berdan-primed, anyway.

About the best thing you can do in this situation is pull and re-use the projectiles and discard the rest / dispose of it properly

Can someone school me a bit about Cordite? Is it a gunpowder derivitive? What's the difference between cordite & gunpowder? Was this an old school way of making military ammo?

          Sorry not trying to threadjack...
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.
