I think all the gear I've ever bought has paid for itself many times over by now. Just the last 2 years alone have been thousands saved.

Don't bill yourself for your own free time though. It's *free* time.

RMR has their .357 158gr Liberal Tears and Happy Face flat points for decent prices.

They also make their own 9mm HPs but also have a good variety of projectiles at good prices if you buy bulk (1k+).

I used to go on charter dive boats for lobster. I think I've now got the price of my catch down to about $600/lb.

LOL. I once calculated the cost of all the ducks I shot in one season. I should not have done that.

Jeff Foxworthy had a good skit itemizing his cost of venison. Some $100/# or some such.

Then exclaimed he did it for his family. Why should his family be stuck with $5/# hamburger instead if $100/# venison.

My best "me" time includes reloading. Reloading is a hobby in itself. Some people manage multiple hobbies and others do whatever.

Today's reloading is about getting a good price on primers.

Even when I did not get the best price on the components, it was better than the price of factory ammunition or the overpriced reloads they sell at the range.

I'm almost exclusively 9mm, but I've been using Berry's Bullets for years. They're inexpensive as projos go, and at 25 yards, they go exactly where I put 'em. More accurately, I've gotten 2 inch shot groups using them and I've done it out of 4 separate pistols and I can hit an 18" plate at better than 50 yards, if my contacts or glasses aren't giving me issues.

Berry's plated are more expensive than fmj these days. They're alright bullets, but theres definitely better for much less!

To be fair, I bought most of what I have for a lot less in the past. The major issue is shippin g all of that weight.

I'm curious, though. Examples of much less? Where might I find FMJs for less than $60-$70 per 1000?

Precision Delta, Montana Gold, Zero and likely more have jacketed bullets competitive with plated bullets.

Berry's 124gr are closer to $130/k now. They're pretty expensive! Fmj's are around $100/k from rmr, everglades etc

Oh yes, that I definitely know. They are really expensive now. I was buying 3-5 years ago at every gun show. Far more than I thought I'd ever shoot so I have quite a few at pre-pandemic prices.
