Tried to find specific 9mm load data but the search result said nada (I don't think it can operate on less than 5 letters). Anyway, been shooting and reloading for 25 years so I'm no stranger around the reloading bench. What I want to know is what are the ammo requirements for IDPA ? Looking through their web site I did not find a definitive answer for 9mm loads. The only comment I saw was "full power loads". Where can I find the requirements?

I forget the actual number for 9mm's, but it is called "Major Power Factor Loads" or commonly called Making Major.
IIRC one must have a very stout load in 9mm to do it.

For IDPA, with the 9x19 all you have to do is make Minor PF. That's 125PF (Bullet Wt in grains X Bullet Velocity in fps / 1000)
Example: 125gr bullet @ 1000fps = 125000/1000= 125PF
Of course you want to load a little higher to stay above the minimum.
For IPSC the Major PF, I believe now is 165PF, used to be 175PF. Major9 can only be used in Open Class. Limited Class has a .40cal min for Major.
At least that was how it was before I had kids.....Luck favors the prepared.

There is a handy chart I refer to. I took it into Excel and added a few more bullet weights that are not there then printed it and put a copy in one of my manuals at the bench. Useful for quick reference when looking at different loads.Comment
