I don't sort handgun brass beyond separating out the berdan, steel, aluminum, stepped, large-flash-hole or wrong-primer-size cases and tossing those.
I reload all the non-stepped brass cases with medium loads and don't worry about any differences.

If I recall correctly, a mostly-full mixed-caliber 5 gallon bucket is about 75# (and it's mostly full only to still be able to move it.)

Assuming that's true (and it may well be incorrect), a 55 gal drum would be 825#, 5 barrels would yield a bit over 2 tons.

Over the few years I was collecting, I had as much as 56 x 5 gallon buckets of brass. I was selling it for a time, and still have quite a bit. Probably well over 30 buckets and most of it 9mm and 5.56.
