Just used some American Reloading MP755 for .338LM

Not sure if anyone cares but just got 8lb to mess around with and maybe win the lotto, although H1000 (unobtanium) has been the best for me. Really just some bulk powder to blast with as .338LM takes 100 grains of US869 to work. As a comparison, h1000 only uses 90 to get 2700fps.

    Says it's comparable to US869
Using Lyman 50th says for 250g projo use 101 to start with, max 106 @2900fps
9 cartridges made, 3 groups around 40 degrees F., new Lapua brass. 27" barrel.
    100g 2550
    101g 2600
    101.5g 2650

My next groups to test would be 102, 103 and 104, stopping any time of course if I see signs.

Loads developed at 40 won’t behave the same at higher temperatures so go easy on your 40 degree loads as hot loads at 40 are a whole different level of hot at 80 degrees.

    Most work performed while-you-wait.

      AR15Barrels;

What is in your opinion a decent less ambient sensitive rifle powder for a 762.51 gas gun?

For M1 Garand 30.06, if I run out of 4064, what else would you recommend?

For 168's and 175's in 7.62x51, Varget is the one.
For 147's, look at 8208XBR and Benchmark.

        Replace IMR4064 with IMR4166 in the 30-06.

Thank you for that. I'll wait for mid day next time or have the rounds warmed on my body.

Either of the 4895 powders have been on the line for decades, with proven performance. Might be easier to find than Varget.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

I agree and I use 4895 for my Garand loads, but neither meet the "less temperature sensitive" requirement that the poster asked for.

Huh - it was my understanding that H4895 was not temperature sensitive?
