Now that is going back a ways. I remember it as being good ammo in my .45 acp.

I have it in .223, .308, and 9mm, never had a failure with it, and I've shot more than my share of it. The brass is definitely good to go.

Agree. I would NOT recommend it on a new AR that you're trying to break in. Out of a 16" barrel, it's something like 300-400fps slower than most other 55 grain offerings. In almost all circumstances it just means a very soft shooting gun, but if there's something even slightly catawampus with the gas system that ammo will exacerbate the issue.

Other than that specific situation with that specific cartridge, yeah the rest of the product line shoots fine.

Back in the day when it first showed up, folks called it Pretty Much Crap.

I never had an issue with it, and I've shot tons of it in a variety of pistol and rifle calibers. It reloads well, and the brass seems to last.

PMC Bronze 223 is well known to cause problems in new AR's, especially when shot from new pmags that are slightly sticky.

These are the top causes of problems on new 223/5.56 ARs that won't cycle correctly:
            1. All new parts have not broken in yet.
            2. Underpowered ammo such as PMC bronze or imported steel case ammo.
            3. New plastic magazines.
            4. Lack of lubrication.
            5. Assembly problems such as mis-aligned gas port or gas tube binding in the barrel nut, receiver and carrier or incompatible parts.

If you take away any single factor of those top 3 and don't have 4 or 5, the gun will usually run fine.
I recommend sticking with Winchester white box for the first few hundred rounds.
After that, the gun may start to function with PMC bronze.

7 . . . definitely a good buy for range ammo if you don’t reload your own.
