    9x25 Dillon What's the Point?

Ordered some 357 sig but vendor screwed up and sent me 9x25 Dillon instead, I have never even heard of this cartridge before and did some research. Seems to really get the advantage of this cartridge, need 6" or longer barrels. Is it worth going down rabbit hole reloading 9x25 Dillon? I don't see much advantage over 357 sig. Appreciate any input and feedback.

It was designed for a specific purpose, get a 9mm bullet to the IPSC 175 power factor. It held alot more powder than the 38 super that people were pushing pretty hard. It became obsolete when the major powerfactor was reduced.

I would have them send you the proper 357sig cases or ammo that you ordered.

I shoot them both. Like em loud.

Damn shame you're not closer to the border. I hate squishing 10mm brass.

People have been loading 9x19 to 357 sig specs for competition for quite some time now. 357 sig isnt that hot or fast.

9x25 Dillon is a hand wrecking cannon.

              I love 9X25. A 10MM case necked down to .357

It’s a ZIPPY cartridge doing about 2000 FPS AT 95 grain. Very flat shooting and I had a 6 inch barrel in 9X25 on a Glock 20 with a scope and could hit with my bad eyes a pie plate at 140 yards.

When Kevin (Underwood) pumped up the 10MM, 135 grain NOSLER to 1600 FPS I switched to just 10MM.

while I reloaded 10MM on my dedicated Dillon I decided to just buy 9X25 from underwood ammo in 50 round boxes.

              Here she is.

It's fun, alot of fun. But is it what you need? If you want to reload take a look at how expensive dies are - if they are in stock right now. If you just want to shoot it I would recommend a heavier than stock recoil spring.

I threw a heavy wolf recoil spring in my G20 and it knocked the recoil down - and stopped my brass from ending up in the next county...

Its a fun, loud flame throwing round.

^^ Oh, dang, that's a really good pic.

And why use the 9x25 Dillon today? Same could be asked about a whole lot of other cartridges. If you like it and you're set up for it, then by all (safe, naturally) means, go for it!
