    Recommended slug settings for Labradar

What settings do you use for Labradar when measuring 12G slug velocity?

    Thoughts please.

My understanding is that the "typical" signs of over-pressure are even more unreliable when dealing with 12G slugs.

So maybe I generate some slugs and send them to Ballistic Products for professional testing. The downside is the time that costs. Every minute is precious at my age. I'm way behind schedule for the objectives that need to be accomplished.

Maybe base it on your expected velocity range? Manual says to select Handgun for 600-1,600 fps and 1,600-3,900 fps for rifle.

Thanks Paseclipse. All thoughts gratefully appreciated.

          That sounds right.

I would use handgun because most slugs are loaded to less than 1500 fps and a rifle setting with the Labradar may fail to capture good data.

Whether you use sound or doppler capture is up to you. Alignment of the unit to the target is always pretty important to capturing the projectile.

I think that should read "trigger". LR uses doppler to get speed. Triggering is by muzzle blast or a projectile causing a reading (doppler.)

I bought a kinetic trigger (a sensor that picks up recoil; attaches to the firearm via a magnet); works really well to prevent false triggers from other shooters.

I might try the pistol setting and/or get the external trigger. My 458 SOCOM has issues sometimes with the blast and the Lab Radar.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

The external trigger is something on my extensive buy list.
