Chrome lined barrel and full copper bullets??

    Hello all (again),

Curious to know from the experienced reloaders/shooters if there has been any experience or reports with using Barnes TTSX bullets in a chrome lined deer hunting rifle, .270 Win. caliber?

I have an older JC Higgings/Sears FN commercial Mauser 98 actioned rifle. I believe those were one of the first rifles to start having chrome lined barrels. (1950's era). Before I get ahead of myself on reloading all copper ammo, I thought I would ask to see if there are any precautions.

    Thanks!!

I don't know if this helps but I have a AR15 and AR10 with chrome lined barrels and I have reloaded and shot copper / lead / fmj anywhere from the minimum load suggestions and exceeding max load suggestions and have had no problem you should be fine. The only things I have noticed is sometimes copper is less accurate than lead and it tends to dirty up the barrel a lot faster. Not sure if I was much help but good luck

Checked the Barnes site for info. Man, those bullets (XPB Pistol) are expensive up to $1.00 per bullet and more.

I get hung up on this also, until I remember the cost of ammunition is a small piece of the cost of a hunting trip. How many hunters buy themselves a new rifle every couple of years (not me)?
