    Lapua brass question

I bought a box of lapua 308 brass because everyone speaks so highly about it. I was more then a bit shocked as I started weighing each case and the weights were all over the scale.

I have some LC match and some Federal match that are 3 times tighter tolerance on the weight of each case and the spread between them. To be honest the weights are about the same spread as my cheap military ball brass. The necks seem very thin too. They weigh 12 grams less then the LC match as well.

    What gives?

I just bought some also and I was disappointed to see that several of the necks were dented. I did not weigh any of mine.

Kind of like Bruce Jenner, but the rifle still has a bolt.

All my Lapua 308 brass were within 2 grains from each other. To me, that is consistent enough for accuracy load.

Strange.. when I tested 5 of my Lapua .308 cases after about 10 reloads and trims they were still within +/- .3gr. They are lighter than other brass from my experience (Rem, Win, Black Hills M).

If I can remember now it was about 2-2.5 grains difference in the spread max.

I see your problem, you are weighing in metric.

Well my scale has grains and grams. Either one says the brass is NOT the same weight. I have never seen load data in ounces.

What gun are you shooting that you are loading this brass for? Also, if you arent full length sizing and trimming before weighing you are just wasting your time. I have shot brass that deviated more than 3.5 grains out to 1000 yards with no ill effects on accuracy. I recently switched from using Norma to Winchester in my precision bolt gun with no ill effects on accuracy.

My batch of Lapua 308 is perfect. The cases are so nice, I don't wanna fire them.

look inside for brass shavings.. I bought a box of lapua 308 brass and a few of them had brass shavings in them that made them heavy.
